Name: Matthew
Age: 6
State: New Jersey

Congratulations to Matthew L., age 6, for this amazing cover-winning entry he titled Safari in South Africa. Matthew used pencils, sharpies, and markers to create his awesome work of art. Matthew has never been on safari, but he's read a book about it. "I really want to go there," he said. "I would like to ride an elephant on safari." Matthew said he loves all animals and likes to draw tigers, sharks, lions, fish, and dinosaurs.

Matthew's other interests include karate, ice-skating, going to the beach, reading, and caring for his 15 goldfish. We asked Matthew what he wants to be when he grows up. He thought about it and replied, "I want to be an airplane engineer, a dinosaur scientist, and a teacher."

Name: Deanna
Age: 6
State: California

Congratulations to Deanna C., age 6, our second-place winner! Deanna used markers and colored pencils to create her fun drawing of roller coasters. She told us she is "one of the kids in the picture," but she's not saying which one.

Deanna's father said his daughter also enjoys ballet, taekwondo, and golf. "But she would really like to become an artist. Deanna likes to draw flowers, family, animals, butterflies dancing, rainbows ... anything that represents happiness."

Humpty Dumpty Third Place

Theme:
My favorite animal in the whole world

Name: Caitlyn
Age: 8
State: Tennessee

Congratulations to Caitlyn S., age 8, our third-place winner! Caitlyn used oil pastels to create her beautiful sailboat. "Caitlyn has never been sailing, but she's been on her uncle's boat, and she loved it," her mom said. She also runs track and takes tennis lessons.

Caitlyn draws things she loves: her family, her cat, and a picture of her ideal house-complete with an ice cream machine. But ice cream may not be on the menu, because Caitlyn has food allergies. She used to have a lot of tummy trouble. "Caitlyn wanted to become a doctor to help kids with tummy issues. But now she wants to be a missionary," said her mom. "We're very proud of her."
