Books

By Rachel Kitrell

Say hello to Rachel Kitrell, one of our “Pen in Hand” authors. Rachel is in sixth grade and would love to be an author and a special education teacher. She enjoys dance, basketball, soccer, and softball. Rachel is in Girl Scouts, and plays clarinet and piano.

Books can take you anywhere;
Uninteresting ones are very rare.
Castles, islands, countries galore,
Cities, states, and so much more—
Fantasy, history, mystery, too;
Romance and comedy, to name a few.
Reading is a lifelong treasure
That will bring you hours of pleasure.
Open a book and you will find
Stories that will challenge your mind.
If I could have just one thing,
I’d choose a book for the joy it’d bring.
Bookshelves piled very high …
Soon the books will touch the sky.
Pictures are really neat,
But books are things that can’t be beat.
Go ahead and take a look,
From cover to cover of a book.
