College Life Picks Up Speed
Olympic gymnast Samantha Peszek started college at UCLA this fall. She's blogging about the experience for Jack and Jill!
Things have really started to pick up here at UCLA. The fast-paced city has turned into a faster-paced campus! Many students, including myself, are busy keeping up with school and studying for midterms. This is my first set of collegiate midterms since I have been at college, so I am a little nervous. I am trying to study extra hard just to ensure solid first quarter grades. Along with school, gymnastics practices have also picked up the intensity. We are putting routines together and polishing our skills. Once again, I am just excited for season and to compete with my team!!
My teammates and I support other UCLA athletic teams by attending football, basketball, volleyball, and soccer games. They are sooooo much fun and it is really incredible to be a part of something so big! The support system here in the (UCLA) Bruin family is unique in the fact that even though I am a freshman, everyone is so caring and willing to help around campus!
Halloween just passed and, as you can imagine, L.A. is one of a kind when it comes to costumes! I LOVE Halloween and dressing up, so, Friday night my teammates and I were Power Rangers! Saturday night I attended my Olympic teammate and good friend, Nastia Liukin’s, birthday party. I had a blast catching up with her and some of my friends from tour. Sunday night I dressed up as Ke$haand went with some friends to the West Hollywood parade. It’s safe to say I am now making it a tradition, because it was that cool! The costumes and people and were so full of life, I had the best time!
That’s all for now!
