1. Mix the applesauce,
cinnamon, cloves, and
glue together in the
bowl to form a dough.
If the dough is too stiff,
add a bit of water.
2. Place the dough on a
flat surface and knead it
(fold, press, and stretch
the dough) a few times.
3. Return the dough to
the bowl and cover it
with plastic wrap. Let
it sit for 45 minutes.
4. Place the dough
between two sheets
of wax paper and roll
it to a thickness of
¼- to ½-inch-thick.*
5. Cut the dough into cookie-
cutter shapes. Then use
the straw to make a hole
near the top for hanging.
6. Place the shapes on a
parchment-lined cookie
sheet and bake at 200°F
for 2 to 3 hours. Turn them
over halfway through baking
time. (To air-dry, transfer
shapes onto a wax paper-
lined cookie sheet and dry
for 3 to 5 days. Turn them
over every day.)
7. If you wish, decorate your
ornaments with glitter glue
and let dry. Thread a piece
of ribbon through the hole
and hang. Your sweet-
smelling ornaments will look
amazing and last for
years!
* Ornaments must be at least ¼-inch-thick to prevent cracking.
