Five Little Snowmen

Ask an adult to draw a face and scarf on the fingertips and thumb of your right or left hand. These are the snowmen. Then act out this finger play while someone reads it aloud.

(Finger Play)

Five little snowmen
standing by the gate.

(Wiggle the snowmen.
Place the other hand in front
of them. This is the gate.)

The first one said,
“I think it’s getting late.”

(Raise the first finger above
the gate and wiggle it.)

The second one said,
“Spring is in the air.”

(Add the second finger
and wiggle them both.)

The third one said,
“What do we care?”

(Add the third finger and
wiggle all three.)

The fourth one said,
“I’m getting very small.”

(Add the little finger and
wiggle all four.)

The fifth one said,
“I’m hardly here at all.”

(Add the thumb and wiggle
all five.)

Then out came the sun;
it was very, very bright.

(Stand fingers at attention.)

And five little snowmen
melted out of sight.

(Slowly curl down fingers
and thumb until they
disappear behind the gate.)
