Fancy Footprints
Art by Robin Boyer
It's a goofy game of tricks and tracks for Elena, Li, Ricky, and Rocky. Meanwhile, let's cast an animal print.
Here's how.

You Will Need:

  • A 2-inch-wide strip of felxible cardboard or firm plastic (long enough to completely encircle the track you want to cast)

  • Plaster of Paris (available at craft and hobby stores)

  • Paper clip

  • Water

  • Mixing container

  • Stir stick

Directions:

  1. Gently remove any leaves or litter in the track.

  2. Surround the track with the strip of cardboard to hold the wet plaster in place.

  3. Mix two parts plaster of Paris powder with five parts water in a container. Mixture should be like pancake batter or yogurt.

  4. Carefully pour the plaster into the track and fill the area inside the cardboard.

  5. Allow about 30 minutes to set, then carefully remove. The next day, use a toothbrush to brush dirt out of the cast.
