Vacation time! Your bags are packed, and you can't wait for the fun to begin! But you're squashed into the back of the family car, with hours of driving in front of you. Follow this guide to get the most out of your time on the road!
- Sleeping makes time go by faster. Bring a pillow and take a nap.
- Good music is key to road trips. Make CDs or playlists ahead of time. Bring a portable CD player or MP3 player and earphones.
- No portable music player? Ask your parents to play your CDs in the car. Maybe you'll end up having a family sing-a-long.
-
Get lost in a good book- if you don't get carsick when you read! You could even read your newest copy of Jack and Jill
- Bring water and healthy, delicious snakes. The less you stop to buy food, the faster you'll get to your destination.
- Sure, your brother or sister may get annoying, but there's not enough room to fight in the car! Put in those earphones or bring some earplugs to tune out sibling noise.
- Spend quality time with your family. Play the license plate game, guess movie lines or song titles, or make up a crazy story together.
- Keep a travel journal. (Learn how to make your own page 9.) Write down all the cool things you pass on the road and funny things your family says.
