Thanks to everyone who entered our cover-art contest! Your favorite places were all wonderful. We are excited and pleased to announce this year's winners. If you know an awesome young artist, check out our 10th Annual Cover Contest!
1st Place: The Horse Pasture
 | | First place goes to Rebekkah H., age 8, of Nevada. Rebekkah's favorite place is the horse pasture across from her house. The owners have given her permission to visit Magic and Las Vegas, the horses who live there.
Rebekkah loves horses and wishes she had her own. For now, Las Vegas, the horse in her picture, keeps her company.
Rebekkah says she loves to draw, especially animals like dogs, cats, and, of course, horses! Rebekkah goes to an art class once a month after school. When she's not drawing, Rebekkah likes to read, especially the books in the Nancy Drew series. Congratulations, Rebekkah! |
2nd Place: Lanikai Beach
 | | Our second place winner is Gabriella M., age 10, of California. Gabriella's favorite place is Lanikai Beach in Hawaii, where she and her family go for vacation every year.
When she's at the beach, Gabriella tells us that she swims, body surfs, builds sandcastles, makes leis, and puts on shows for her family.
Gabriella stays very busy. She loves to draw with watercolors and pastels, especially pictures of nature and animals. She also designs clothes. Gabriella acts, sings, and dances, too. This summer, she was Louisa in The Sound of Music. Congratulations, Grabriella! |
3rd Place: The Zoo
 | | Third place goes to Grace W., age 8, from Indiana. Grace loves animals. So, of course, her favorite place is the zoo. She used permanent markers to draw her picture of the animals there.
Grace can't pick a favorite animal at the zoo, but at home, her favorites are her cat, Libby, and dog, Lucas.
Grace uses her imagination to draw people and places. At school she has art once a week. When Grace isn't drawing, she's playing outside and swinging extra high on her swing set. Congratulations, Grace! |
