A fire escape plan is a great gift for your family. Fire and smoke can spread rapidly through a home, so everyone needs to know what to do and where to immediately go. Hopefully, a fire won't happen in your home. If it does, an escape plan will help you and your family exit-quickly and safely!

• Draw a floor plan or map of your home in the square below. Show all doors and windows.


• Mark two ways out of each room. Make sure all doors and windows open easily.


• Show your outside family meeting place (light pole, tree, neighbors yard or house) on your escape plan.

Write your fire department emergency number here and memorize it__________________________________.



Practice you escape plan twice a year at night and during the day with everyone in your home. Use different ways of getting to safety as quickly as your can. No time to grab valuables-just escape! Close doors behind you.
