Parents: This activity helps you to reinforce your child’s ability to recognize and name basic shapes.
You Will Need:
• Marker
• Ruler
• Construction paper
• Round objects for tracing circles
• Safety scissors
• Glue stick
What to Do:
1. Help your child draw squares and rectangles of different sizes and colors. Use round objects to trace circles. Cut out the shapes.
2. Together, fold a square in half diagonally. Cut on the fold to make two triangles.
3. With your child, identify each shape and count the sides and corners. Ask how the shapes are different.
Enrichment:
• Have your child glue colored shapes onto construction paper to make a picture!
