AED Lockbox: A New Option for Heart-Healthy Neighborhoods

New Treatment for Painful Angina
Over six million Americans live with a painful chest condition called angina pectoris, resulting from blockages in the arteries that supply blood to the heart or other coronary disease. For most individuals suffering from the disease, conventional interventions—nitroglycerin, angioplasty or bypass surgery—help ease the discomfort.

The Goods on Garlic
For centuries, garlic has been praised for its health benefits—from lowering cholesterol to reducing the risk of certain cancers. While dozens of studies in the 1970s and 1980s upheld the disease-fighting claims, researchers later criticized the studies for a variety of reasons, leaving support for the benefits of the pungent bulb in question.

Focusing on Macular Degeneration
For millions of individuals, macular degeneration dramatically affects daily life. The disease, referred to as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) because it primarily develops in individuals past 50, results in the deterioration of the cells in the macula, an oval yellowish area near the center of the retina where vision is most acute.
